Purpose of the Role
As a Front of House Usher, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring a welcoming and safe experience for all patrons, supporting the theatre’s operations to deliver an outstanding service. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with the public and contribute to an unforgettable experience at one of South Africa’s most respected cultural venues.
Key Responsibilities
As a Front of House Usher, your main responsibilities will include:
- Ticket Scanning
- Responsible for scanning tickets and managing entry to events.
- Patron Assistance
- Directing patrons to their seats and answering any queries.
- Assisting patrons with special needs or those requiring additional help.
- Safety and Guidance
- Ensuring aisles and walkways are clear.
- Guiding audiences safely to exits and entrances during performances.
- Addressing and resolving disputes or issues that arise during events.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 certificate
- Experience: Previous work in the hospitality or theatre industry is advantageous.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Friendly, approachable manner with strong communication skills.
- Fluency in English and at least one other official language.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and both independently and as part of a team.
