Purpose of the Role
The Provincial Inspector Trainee will undergo intensive training to enforce road safety, manage traffic, and promote community safety across KwaZulu-Natal. This role is critical to ensuring efficient traffic flow and reducing road incidents in the province.
Key Responsibilities
As a Provincial Inspector Trainee, your hands-on role will encompass:
- Road Safety Enforcement
- Conduct speed checks, roadblocks, and safety operations.
- Patrol high-risk areas to prevent accidents.
- Traffic Control
- Manage traffic during emergencies and congestion.
- Support motorists with breakdown issues.
- Vehicle Testing and Compliance
- Conduct roadworthy vehicle inspections.
- Supervise testing stations for compliance.
- Crime Prevention
- Identify and report on traffic-related offenses.
- Enforce compliance with traffic and transport laws.
- Administrative Duties
- Issue legal notices and prepare court documents.
- Maintain detailed reports on enforcement activities.
- Public Interaction
- Educate communities on road safety practices.
- Engage in programs that promote the department’s initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent (NQF Level 4).
- Driver’s License: Code B manual license.
- Criminal Record: No criminal record is necessary.
- Medical Fitness: Fitness certificate not older than 3 months.
- Age: Under 35 years.
- Citizenship: South African citizen or permanent resident.
Skills & Competencies

- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Skilled in driving and team collaboration.
- Ability to understand and apply traffic laws and regulations.
