Purpose of the Role
The Messenger/Driver will be responsible for ensuring safe transportation of staff and materials, playing a crucial role in the efficient operations of the Facilities Management component. This position allows you to be a vital part of a department dedicated to maintaining smooth governmental operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Transportation Duties:
- Safely transport staff and work teams to various locations as part of Departmental activities.
- Ensure the timely delivery and collection of documents, materials, and equipment.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Perform daily checks on vehicle essentials such as oil, water, fuel, and tyres.
- Detect minor issues, reporting and arranging timely repairs.
- Record-Keeping:
- Maintain an accurate vehicle logbook for all trips.
- Obtain trip authorisations and adhere to designated routes.
- Manual Adherence:
- Thoroughly interpret and follow vehicle maintenance manuals and service charts.
This role demands a pro-active approach to maintaining safety and efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 10 certificate or equivalent (NQF Level 3).
- Experience: 5 years’ proven driving experience.
- Driving Licence: Valid driver’s license (ensure a clear copy is available).
- Competencies:
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong teamwork ability.
