Purpose of the Role
As a Bartender, you will take on the responsibility of providing an outstanding beverage service that enhances our guests’ experience, aligns with Sun International’s prestigious standards, and contributes to the vibrant atmosphere of GrandWest Casino.
Key Responsibilities
- Bar Preparation: Set up the bar with necessary tools and stock before the commencement of service.
- Cleanliness and Stock Management: Maintain a tidy bar area and ensure a consistent stock of beverages and supplies.
- Customer Interaction: Take drink orders, recommend beverages, and assist with food service when required, always delivering friendly service.
- Beverage Preparation: Mix and serve drinks according to guest orders, ensuring quality presentation.
- Billing and Cash Handling: Process bills and manage cash-ups at the end of each shift.
- Promotions and Upselling: Actively promote special beverages and upsell to enhance guest experience.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene practices; report and manage any breakages or issues with equipment.
- Engagement: Greet and interact warmly with guests, handle complaints or escalate them appropriately.
Minimum Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12 preferred, but candidates with Grade 10 and relevant experience will be considered.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Extensive knowledge of drinks and mixology.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Ability to perform cashier duties.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Capability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Proven upselling abilities.
- Flexibility to work shifts and adapt to different venues within the establishment.
